Kids need a lot of stuff but they quickly out grow it.
So if your baby’s old cot is taking up space, there’s a good way to recycle it.
Parents have been posting pictures of the how they’ve turned the cot into a wall planter for the garden.
The slats on a cot are perfect for hanging pots when turned on its side.
You can easily repaint the cot and attach it to a fence or wall, giving lots of space to add little hanging pots.
The idea was posted on the Extreme Budget DIY and Life Hacks Facebook group and people love the idea.
One mum said: ‘Turned the side of my son’s old cot into a wall planter.
‘Lightly sanded the frame then spray painted the cot and plant baskets.’
Others have been posting their own versions of the DIY hack.
Some used Frenchic paint for a pop of colour and others just used whatever leftover paint they could find.
For the pots, people recommended the 99p Sunnersta pots from Ikea as they have hooks on the back.
The pots come in green or white but if you want a little more colour, you can get similar ones in a rainbow of bright shades from eBay.
You can grow flowers or use the wall planter as a vertical herb garden if you’re short on space.
Make sure your pots have a little hole for drainage in the bottom and give them lots of water to help them grow.
